Calendar Marathi is published by Ashish Mishra, a pandit based in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. I prepare calendar information for readers who want to find Marathi festival dates, vrat entries and Panchang details, and understand how to read them alongside the monthly calendar.
My location is Kolhapur. The reference location used for the calendar's place-dependent information is Mumbai, Maharashtra. These are different details: where I work does not change the reference city printed with a timing.
What Calendar Marathi provides
The website brings together monthly Marathi calendar images, festival and vrat tables, daily Panchang records and an annual PDF file. The month pages help readers find a date in context. The festival guides explain Maharashtra's household customs and preparations, while the calendar-reading guides explain terms such as tithi, paksha and times continuing after midnight.
A festival entry is a religious or cultural calendar reference. It is not an official declaration that a bank, school or office will be closed. Public holidays and event arrangements should be checked with the relevant authority or organiser.
My calculations and the Mumbai reference
I prepare the calendar using Drik Ganita calculations, including sunrise and sunset information for the stated reference location. I also use the VedAstro open-source project available on GitHub to cross-check sunrise and sunset. Background about that software is available in the VedAstro project repository.
I research local festivals and observances in Maharashtra and cross-check their dates against printed Marathi calendars. When comparing entries, I look at the full festival name and the relevant year, location and regional practice. This is a cross-check alongside my calculations; it does not imply an affiliation with a printed calendar's publisher.
Using that software does not mean that VedAstro has reviewed, certified or endorsed this website. The calendar entries and explanations published here remain my editorial responsibility.
Place-dependent readings use Mumbai, Maharashtra as their reference, with times in Indian Standard Time (IST). A Mumbai sunrise, sunset or moonrise should not be treated as the exact local reading for every town in Maharashtra. Someone arranging a ceremony elsewhere should use the location and tradition applicable to that ceremony.
A daily tithi record, a festival observance and a ceremony-specific muhurat can describe different things. Differences between calendars need to be considered with their location, lunar-month convention and observance rules. A general festival list is not a substitute for a specific ceremony's timing.
Calendar design and illustrations
The calendar artwork is our own design, prepared in CorelDRAW. The calendar images and PDF file present that design for reading and printing.
Some festival articles use AI-generated devotional illustrations. Those images are labelled as illustrations and are separate from the CorelDRAW calendar layouts. They do not document an actual ceremony, temple programme or named family's worship. A picture of a shrine should not be used to infer a ritual sequence or an event's arrangements.
Cultural references and household practice
Festival articles link to cultural background sources where used, including Maharashtra Tourism and Incredible India. These references explain customs; they do not certify our year-specific dates or astronomical calculations. Household and regional practices can differ, so an account of one custom should not be read as a compulsory method for everyone.
Calendar Marathi is not an official government calendar or an authorised edition of another calendar publisher.
Corrections and contact
If you notice an error, email [email protected] or use the Contact Us page. Please include the page address, full date and year, the exact entry in question and the source you are comparing. Say whether the issue appears in the image, PDF, table or explanatory text. For a timing query, include the city and timezone as well.
These details help locate a disagreement without assuming that a difference is necessarily a typing mistake. A corrected table also needs to agree with its related image and PDF file.
